Plenty of Activities Planned for Centennial Homecoming 2010 at WTAMU
CANYON, Texas—There will be hundreds of ways to celebrate during West Texas A&M University’s Centennial Homecoming 2010. The fun-filled week begins with Maroon Madness on Monday, Oct. 4 and culminates with gridiron action when the Buffs take on Tarleton State Saturday, Oct. 9 at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.
Things really start to pick up on Friday, Oct. 8. The annual Homecoming Classic Golf Tournament begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. at the Ross Rogers Golf Complex. The staff at Cornette Library will host a Centennial Cookbook Release party from 10 a.m.-noon, and the Athletic Hall of Champions reception and induction ceremony honoring the Class of 2010 begins at noon at the First United Bank Center. The Friends of the Cornette Library will host a Demonstration School Reunion from 2-4 p.m. in the Blackburn Room, and the Alumni Association will host a Golden Buff Reception at 6 p.m. in the Alumni Banquet Facility. The University’s Pigskin Revue will kick off at 8 p.m. at the Box, followed by the Torch Procession, the Lighting of the Bonfire and Homecoming concert featuring Quietdrive.
Canyon streets will be lined with people on Saturday, Oct. 9 for Canyon’s Fair on the Square and the annual Homecoming Parade, which starts at 11 a.m. The Lady Buffs volleyball team meets Midwestern State in a 1 p.m. match at the Fieldhouse, and the Alumni Tailgate and Cook-Off Challenge begin at 3 p.m. at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium. The football game starts at 6 p.m., and the 2010 Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime festivities.
